River City Disc Golf Club is focused on growing the sport in Richmond through a variety of avenues. We sponsor clinics in local Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. We provide support for public & private high school clubs & teams, such as Trinity Episcopal and L.C. Bird. Clinics are run by members of our club & community and range in scope, from basic rules of playing, basic concepts of throwing, all the way to advanced shot shaping and distance techniques.

We proudly run the River City Junior Series as well. This youth-focused event series allows young disc golfers to get exposure to tournament play. Currently, we run these events with two layouts – 10 & under play a shortened layout of an existing course, and 10 & up plays a harder, longer layout meant to challenge their skills. Disc golf is a great sport to enjoy casually, but it also has a competitive element! For the kids and teens who enjoy watching Disc Golf Pro Tour coverage, the opportunity to compete with their peers while mastering the fundamentals of tournament play promotes healthy competition and self-growth that comes through a solo sport.

We are always looking to work with more schools, do more community outreach clinics, and help get discs into the hands of anybody who has a desire to play. If you or your school, community, or otherwise might benefit from a learn-to-play event, don’t hesitate to email board@rivercitydiscgolf.org for more information.
